The Supersonic BMW team have been raising awareness of the "Action for A-T" charity over the opening two rounds of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.
Team owner Danilo Soncini has been promoting the cause with visibility on the Supersonic BMWs and also on the limited edition team clothing as the association seeks to raise funds for the research to cure a extremely rare illness, Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T). You can find out more by clicking here.
Soncini said: "I was sitting in my office, working non-stop on the BSB project, reading English news websites when I hit the article telling me about this girl suffering from that tremendously serious illness. As father of a girl of the same age, the story touched me in a way and I wanted to help the association with my team and raise awareness. I decided to track down the girl's family and thanks to the great support of BSB; I got a contact to explain to the girl's parents my idea of raising funds by using the coverage of the championship. This is not my first initiative like this, unfortunately sport too often is seen as a business or career opportunity, and I am convinced that it is a place for opportunity for friendship and solidarity. Starting with the third race it will be possible to buy the clothing made for our team to explicitly promote Action for A-T at the first two rounds of this year's championship. All pieces will be hand-signed by our riders and all proceeds will be donated to the charity association "Action for A-T".
