MSS Colchester Kawasaki Team Manager Nick Morgan announced today (Wednesday) his line up of Michael Rutter and Peter Hickman for the 2012 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship and is hopeful that it will cause a surprise.
Morgan will again be reunited with Rutter who brings a vast amount of experience to the team; they last worked together during the 2007 season and he teams up with Hickman, who is eager to repeat his podium finish from last season.
Morgan said: "We have an interesting line-up for this year that will hopefully cause some surprises. Michael needs no introduction and possesses such experience that will see him snatch results when they're least expected. From my perspective it's a good opportunity for a new rider like Hicky to come in and learn from Michael. I think he's a really underrated rider who's worked hard to get where he has. Last season saw some great rides, maybe he could benefit from some more direction and it will all click into place.
"One thing we did last year that turned a few heads was run to the 2012 spec before the end of the season. We didn't set the world alight but we logged up days and days of data at different tracks on how the new ZX-10R reacts when using the new engine spec regulations and Motec ECU. This means when we come to start testing in Spain we won't have to re-invent the wheel and will be able to utilise that information to fine tune the bikes to Michael and Hicky.
It's exciting to be going into the new season with a new line-up and from my point of view I went away for the Winter so I'm refreshed and raring to go too. I'd just like to say thank you again to our loyal partners who enable us to go racing and welcome Bathams Brewery as a partner to the team plus Luke and the team from Motorcycles Direct who now own the Colchester Kawasaki dealership."
