MCE Fantasy Road Race

Imagine you've got £10 million in the bank and have decided to setup your own star-studded race team, assembled from a mixture of hottest talent in MotoGP, World and British Superbikes.

That's the basis of the Fantasy Road Race competition in association with MCE Insurance. All you've got to do get involved in this free-to-enter game is use all your skills and judgment to handpick a winning line-up for the upcoming 2010 racing season.

A top prize of a Yamaha R6 worth £8999 is up for grabs for the overall winner, with a £230 set of Bridgestone tyres going to the winner of each of the seven individual rounds - so every single point you score will be vital.

Some of the fastest men in the racing history are at your disposal, but being a top team manager in the high - octane world of racing is not as easy as it sounds.

It might be tempting to splash the cash on Valentino Rossi, James Toseland and James Ellison - but you'll quickly blow a big hole in your £10 million budget.

You've got to be astute with your cash and sign six riders who could score solid points throughout the year, as well as the expensive sure-fire winners who will rack up the big points.

By signing Fiat Yamaha's Rossi at £3m and Ducati's awesome Aussie Casey Stoner at £2.9m you'll blow more than 50% of your budget, so don't let your heart rule your head.

Take Colin Edwards, for example. In 2009 he only failed to score points in one race and finished fifth in the MotoGP world championship. And at £2.4m he looks good value this year.

You could also adopt a more risky strategy by opting for one of several MotoGP rookies, with all eyes on reigning World Superbike champion Ben Spies as he prepares for his first full MotoGP campaign. He's looked impressive in winter testing so far, and at £2.3m he could be well worth a punt.

In World Superbikes, it would be tempting to sign Noriyuki Haga at £2m. But you could also adopt a partisan approach and go for two Brits - the 2010 WSB series is packed with an array of homegrown talent including the highly-rates Jonathan Rea and Leon Haslam, both who will set you back £1.8m.

Looking closer to home, two old fans' favourites are back in BSB for 2010 Ryuichi Kiyonari and Yukio Kagayama, who are sure to be popular selections - while the safe money in on pre-season favourites Ellison and Stuart Easton at £1.7m apiece.
