Siberian Side Car Racing

As the British winter comes to a close, teams are descending to Sibera, to what has been said to be the 'worlds daftest race.'

In less that two weeks time, 15 teams will venture to the ice cold climate battling temperatures as low as -40C. Racing from the UK are an excited duo Simon Limpus and David Murray. Limpus commented "We're under no illusions how hard this trip is going to be but it will be a fantastic challenge for both of us and the other teams to complete something so difficult. The cold is obviously the biggest concern but we hope our preparations in terms of clothing and navigation will be good enough."

In addition the UK team will be raising awareness of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME research which Limpus suffered from for seven years. The charity aims to investigate causes and treatment of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which affects between 120,000 and 240,000 people in the UK.

Whilst camping along the way the competitors will be expected to find plan their own route from the river Ob to Salekhard in the arctic circle. It is said that the temperatures are predicted to be between -10c to a bone chilling -40c during the race.
