11 rounds down, 1 to go of the MCE BSB
With 11 rounds down and 1 left to go, the MCE British Superbike Championship 2012 has been an incredible year of racing so far!
Alex Lowes and the WFR Honda team celebrated a maiden MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship victory in the opening race of the day at the penultimate round at Silverstone following an intense battle between the Title Fighters for the opening spoils to fire himself up to third in the overall standings.
Shane Bryne bounced back from a Shakey start with 2nd place in race 1 and in 3rd place was Samsung Honda's Michael Laverty after being put under pressure by Byrne in the final lap!
Alex Lowes then took a sensational second race win following an epic scrap for the podium in the final MCE BSB race of the day.
With Shane Bryne 2nd and Brookes 3rd, the 3 riders could not have fought harder to win that race.
Lowes winning the double mixes up the Showdown even more as we head to Brands Hatch for the final 3 races!
Only 24 points (equivalent to one race win) are between Lowes and the 2012 championship.
Not forgetting Big Ed and the MCE smilers who have been up to their usual antics, meeting a few celebrities along the way this year including Katie Price (aka Jordan), Dane Bowers, Carl Foggarty, Carl Froch (pictured) and Murray Walker who famously said that 'the MCE British Superbikes is the best race series in the WORLD bar none!'.
The standings for the final 3 races at Brands Hatch look like this:
- Shane Byrne (Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki) 608
- Josh Brookes (Tyco Suzuki) 599
- Alex Lowes (WFR Honda) 584
- Tommy Hill (Swan Yamaha) 566
- Michael Laverty (Samsung Honda) 559
- Tommy Bridewell (Supersonic BMW) 544
