Big Eds Blog - The British GP

MCE Insurance This weekend I had a (very) rare couple of days off and some friends gave me a couple of all access passes to the MotoGP at Silverstone. Never one to say no to free tickets to something motorcycle related of course I snatched them up and started making my plans.

I know Silverstone well, me and the MCE gang go every year for the MCE BSB - and when I arrived I felt instantly at home. I must admit, it's nice to arrive at a circuit as a spectator - don't get me wrong I love my continually growing MCE BSB family, but on this occasion I could sit in the grandstands and walk around the paddock completely relaxed and enjoying a day watching the sport I love most. Don't get me wrong my head did draw a bit of attention, but that comes with the territory.

The British GP is always special - however I don't think I can remember one that had three races to this standard, I was riveted. For me, the star of the show was Cal Crutchlow, fresh off the back of his win in Brno he qualified in pole position and finished the race in second place, an incredible achievement and for him to make it happen at his home round was something pretty special, and everyone in the circuit knew it.

Maverick Vinales bagged a commanding win and further added to one of the most incredible years in MotoGP history with a number of different riders standing on the top step, a demonstration of how truly exceptional these riders are.

So yeah, my weekend off still involved bikes - did you expect anything less?! Next weekend i'm heading to Oulton Park for the Showdown decider and then things will really get heated in the MCE BSB! It's pretty hard being me, y'know... ;)
