Crutchlow makes history in Brno

MCE Insurance Cal Crutchlow has become the first British winner in the premier class since Barry Sheene, finally ending 35 years of waiting.

Opting for hard tyres - front and rear - Crutchlow sacrificed a good start on the wet track for a fantastic finish as a dry line began to appear in the final stages of the race, enabling him to hit the front of the pack with a 7.2 second gap on Valentino Rossi who finished second. Marc Marquez completed the podium.

Lorenzo came into the pits to change bikes, however he was forced to return oncemore soon after to change bikes again. This is another demonstration of the importance of correct tyre choices and 'taking the gamble' as Crutchlow added in his post-race comments, saying 'as far as I'm concerned they're all wimps' for not doing so.

Loris Baz secured an impressive finish in fourth, followed by Hector Barbera and Eugene Laverty adding to his growing list of fantastic finishes in 2016 completing the top six.

Iannone, Redding and Dovizioso who showed early promise in the race were forced backwards as their soft wet tyres struggled with the drying track, Iannone's tyre in particular was almost completely stripped by the end of the Brno GP.
