Jonathan Rea wins successive WSBK title

MCE Insurance Jonathan Rea has won the World Superbike Championship, becoming the first rider since Carl Fogarty in 1999 to win successive titles.

It was Chaz Davies who won the race, however Rea's work throughout the season meant he has a 55-point lead going into the final race which can't be touched by his championship rivals.

Speaking to Eurosport, he said: 'We started the season so strong that we were able to manage the last few races. I gave 200 percent in that race and threw caution to the wind but it was not enough to win!'

Davies will head into the final race battling with Tom Sykes for the second place finish, the two riders are currently separated by seven points so it will be all to play for tomorrow for the final race of the season - Davies has won six of the past seven races so he will certainly be one to watch for a last minute snatch of the second place finish.

Congratulations to Jonathan Rea from all of MCE Insurance!
