Round 1 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Silverstone - Qualifying

MCE Insurance Leon Haslam has made his intentions known on his return to the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, firing his way into pole position for the first race of the 2016 season.

The weather varied from hailstones to glorious sunshine throughout the day making it difficult for the riders to preempt the conditions, however it was the 'Pocket Rocket' that got the formula right and secured the fastest time.

Jason O'Halloran has returned from injury and evidently hit the ground running, narrowly missing out on pole position by a slight 0.061s. Christian Iddon will make up the front row of the first race tomorrow after impressing throughout pre-season testing as well as the free practice sessions this weekend.

Shane Byrne was pushed back to the second row, he will be joined there by Luke Mossey and Michael Laverty, all three look impressive on their respective rides and will be hoping to upset the front row at the earliest opportunity.

John Hopkins will take seventh position and James Rispoli eighth. Linfoot who will start race one in ninth place had terrible luck in the final session of qualifying, showing promise in the earlier stages but unable to set a lap due to a technical problem on his Honda Fireblade.

James Ellison will start the first race of the championship tomorrow at the back of the grid after crashing out in the early stages of qualifying, it's a disastrous start for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider and he will be hoping to carve his way through the pack tomorrow.
