Round 10 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Donington Park - Qualifying

MCE Insurance Leon Haslam has bagged pole position for tomorrows race one, setting the fastest ever MCE BSB lap of Donington Park in the process. It was a spectacular qualifying session with the top 13 riders going under the existing lap record.

The showdown six made it through to the final Superpole session and gave it their all to ensure their Showdown campaign got off to the best start. Jason O'Halloran was first up and set the benchmark, of which Hickman was unable to beat, only by a slight 0.003s, however.

Linfoot went faster than his teammate by 0.378s and hit the top with six riders left to go.

Christian Iddon, who has been strong all weekend went top, pipping Linfoot to the post by a slight 0.085s. Tommy Bridewell was next out and fell short, forced to settle for third with four riders remaining.

Luke Mossey then went faster than Iddon, again only by a narrow margin of 0.064s. The celebration was short lived for Quattro Plant rider, however, with Ellison next out and hitting the top in his first superpole session of the year.

Shane 'Shakey' Byrne was next out and set a blisteringly fast lap, pushing 0.396s faster than Ellison and leading many to think that he had bagged pole in the process. Haslam was on the attack straight off the bat, however and bagged pole position for tomorrow - by just 0.095s!
