Round 10 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Donington Park - Race One
Shane 'Shakey' Byrne has kick started his showdown campaign in style with a dominant victory at Donington Park, retaking the Championship lead by a slight two points over Leon Haslam who finished in second.
It was Ellison who made the best start, with Haslam and Byrne close behind. Byrne looked like he had the pace, however and snatched second from his Championship rival soon after.
Byrne then overtook Ellison a lap later at Esses and hit the front. With the pace Byrne had demonstrated in the corners leading up to that point it looked clear that he had the speed to break away - which he did - finishing 7.225s ahead of Haslam.
The battle for third was riveting, with O'Halloran and Ellison fighting it out for a podium finish, the battle went down to the very last laps of the race, with O'Halloran able to snatch the lead with three laps remaining and defending strongly for the remainder.
Hickman finished fifth, followed by Cooper and Linfoot. Iddon finished eighth with Hopkins and Laverty making up the top ten.
