Round 12 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Brands Hatch GP - Qualifying

MCE Insurance Tommy Bridewell will start race one at Brands Hatch in pole position, going fastest in the final moments of Q3 with Iddon and Mossey joining him on the front row.

The session was red flagged in the early stages with Jenny Tinmouth crashing out and receiving medical attention whilst the track was being inspected.

When Q2 kicked off it was Parkes who came out on top putting in a blisteringly fast 1:24:769s lap.

During the second session Haslam crashed out whilst in seventeenth in a peculiar incident in which he appeared to fall off the bike. Soon afterwards marshals confirmed that his handlebar on the right hand side was broken and unable to reach the break he had to get off as quickly and safely as possible.

This incident is a big blow to his Championship contention, he will be forced to start race one in seventeenth position and will have his work cut out if he wants to carve through the pack and steal those crucial points off Shane Byrne. The JG Speedfit Kawasaki team are currently rebuilding the bike from scratch with substantial damage suffered.

It was Cooper who made the best start in the final session where tyre choices were key as patches of rain began to fall on the circuit. However as the session progressed the times got gradually faster and Mossey put in a vastly faster time - however his time on top was short lived as Bridewell went even faster on slicks.

Iddon saved it until the closing seconds before he put in a fast time and separated Bridewell from Mossey, bagging a second place start for race one.

O'Halloran heads up the second row with Byrne in fifth - he will be aware that this will be a key race for his Championship title hopes with Haslam some twelve spots behind. Cooper completes the second row.

Ellison, Hopkins and Parkes will make the third.
