Round 2 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Oulton Park - Race One

MCE Insurance Leon Haslam has capitalised on his start from pole position, forcing his way onto the top spot for the first time since 2008, although it wasn't easy getting there.

Haslam sank back to fifth at the start of the race, with his teammate Ellison leading the pack. Haslam was ready to fight back, though, making decisive moves on Kennedy and Linfoot and preventing them from overtaking again with a defensive line mixed with his right leg left dangling/raised heading into corners.

Linfoot grabbed the second place position off Haslam and made a move on Ellison for first, the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider then started to drop back, of which Haslam was happy to take advantage of taking a second place position.

It was now for Linfoot to control the distance of which he did very well, creating a gap in the early stages. However a mistake at Hizzys got the better of him and he crashed out just two laps after taking the lead.

Haslam defended well against Christian Iddon, who was after his first ever race win and subsequently had to settle for second, James Ellison made up the podium.
