Round 3 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Brands Hatch Indy - Race One

MCE Insurance Leon Haslam snatched the win from his teammate James Ellison in today's race one in a spectacular race to the line between the Kawasaki riders.

Ellison made the best start to the race, rocketing to first and comfortably holding off pole man Luke Mossey. Shakey Byrne had a terrible start, dropping back to 15th from the front row and having to work his Ducati to try and push it back through the grid.

Bridewell had a battle with Richard Cooper in throughout the race that demonstrated both riders determination to reach the podium finish. Danny Buchan crashed out unhurt, suffering a massive highside but thanks to his protective gear he was able to walk away, irritated but okay.

Ellison controlled his race well, but the chasing pack were on his tail and unwilling to let him get away. The safety car had to be deployed after Tinmouth, Rispoli and Iannuzzo all crashed out, which bunched the pack up even more. Mossey dropped back through the pack as Bridewell capitalized on this and began to hunt James Ellison.

Leon Haslam who had previously not been much of a threat throughout the race then began to make a number of moves to make his way through the pack, passing Mossey and Cooper in quick succession. On the final Lap Haslam passed Bridewell into second and many thought that he will finish in that place with very little overtaking opportunities remaining, however as the leaders exited Clearways Haslam had the better run up and was able to pip Ellison to the post by a slight 0.057s.

Bridewell finished off the podium, Cooper finished fourth, followed by Mossey, Laverty, Hickman, O'Halloran, Byrne and Linfoot.
