Round 4 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Knockhill - Race One

MCE Insurance Haslam was able to capitalise on a successful warm up session and claimed his third victory in the 2016 MCE Insurance British Superbike season, following a merciless fight with Dan Linfoot.

O'Halloran made a fantastic start from second place, as Shane Byrne dropped back a number of places after a contrastingly poor one. Byrne worked his way up the order, however crashed a few laps later after losing the front at the Hairpin, Jake Dixon got tangled up as well and ended his race prematurely, also.

The pack grouped up oncemore as the Safety car was deployed, Haslam led, followed by Hopkins, Linfoot and Laverty. In the following few laps Hopkins took the lead, however Haslam snatched it back. Following this Honda Racing's Dan Linfoot moved ahead of the American, as did Luke Mossey pushing him off the podium.

Hopkins and Laverty then made contact coming out of the Hairpin, of which Laverty came off worse. He managed to keep the bike upright, however he dropped back a number of places and moved away from the sharp end of the action.

Linfoot was unrelenting as he chased Haslam down. He took the lead on lap 19, however Haslam made a decisive move on the rider just two laps later and made it stick, taking the overall victory.

Mossey finished third, making the number of riders who have finished on the podium in 2016 now in double figures! Hopkins finished fourth, followed by Hickman, Cooper, Ellison, Laverty, O'Halloran and Buchan making up the top ten.
