Round 5 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Snetterton - Race two

MCE Insurance Following Shane 'Shakey' Byrne's race one performance it was evident that he had the pace and determination to win race two - and he did just that.

Byrne made the best start, followed by O'Halloran, Haslam, Laverty and Linfoot. It was apparent that the pack were not going as quickly as in race one, a possible indication that tyre conservation was playing on a number of the riders minds.

The opening lap saw Haslam and Laverty push O'Halloran back to fourth. Linfoot saw a gap and took the chance, pushing his way past his teammate and quickly forced himself into second and looked confident as he sat on the back wheel of Shane Byrne's Ducati.

The pack then split as Linfoot and Byrne battled it out, however Byrne's experienced defensive line was able to hold the Honda rider off. Whilst this was going on Haslam, Laverty and O'Halloran had a fantastic battle for third of which Laverty eventually emerged victorious.

These two battles would have carried on for a number of laps as the race progressed, but the unfolding action was prematurely ended as Jenny Tinmouth crashed out and debris was left on the track.

As it stood at that moment Byrne took the win and Linfoot second, with Laverty bagging the final podium position, followed by Haslam and O'Halloran.

Many will argue that Linfoot looked like he had the pace to take on Byrne, however he never got the opportunity to make it stick. However, two second places in a day is a fantastic result, one that we are sure he will walk away happy with.

Haslam finished fourth, followed by O'Halloran, Iddon, Irwin, Hickman, Buchan and Bridewell.
