Round 8 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Cadwell Park - Race One

MCE Insurance Shane 'Shakey' Byrne has claimed his first win at Cadwell Park since 2003 in race one, shoving his way to the front and forcing Haslam back into second place.

Byrne had the best start, however Haslam managed to go first within the first lap as a battle emerged behind him between Cooper and O'Halloran, swapping three times before the Australian made it stick.

Jackson who has had an impressive weekend so far crashed out unhurt at Charlies, whilst this was happening Haslam had a moment and dropped back a couple of places behind Byrne and O'Halloran.

Linfoot also crashed out at the Chicane unhurt, a blow to his showdown campaign as he tries to keep his name in contention.

Haslam went back into the lead in lap nine with Byrne close behind, however it was clear Byrne was eager to make a move and it became increasingly evident that it would most likely be on the last lap that he would do so. On the final lap he made a move at Chris Curve and made it stick, defending off a possible counter attack and bagging the win.

Haslam finished second with O'Halloran making up the podium. Bridewell finished in fourth, followed by Irwin, Ellison, Hickman and Cooper. Dixon and Laverty made up the top ten.
