The First 10 Riders of the Biggest Ever MCE BSB Grid
2015 has been hailed as the 'biggest ever MCE British Superbikes' - by both the size of the grid, as well as the momentum and publicity the series is receiving in the pre-season. With a number of riders coming and going, and an influx of new riders, here is a helpful guide of the first 10 riders on the MCE BSB grid:
#2 Broc Parkes
Racing for Milwaukee Yamaha aboard the YZF-R1, this Australian rider competed in MotoGP last year, and has declared he will be bringing his "A-game" in the championship this year. He is best known for competing in the Supersport World Championship, his best finish being in both 2004 and 2007 in second place.
#3 Billy McConnell
After finishing first in the British Supersport Championship last year, McConnell truly has worked his way up the ranks. The Australian rider, nicknamed "Skippy" will be racing with Smiths Racing BMW, who he has been with for four seasons. He says he wants to "keep pushing forward to get top ten's and definitely try to make the Showdown".
#4 Dan Linfoot
After making the move from Kawasaki to Honda Racing this year, Dan Linfoot will no doubt be hoping to capitalise on his success in making the showdown in 2014. 'Linny' has stated that he will be 'setting his sights even higher' in 2015, and always fighting for podium finishes and hopefully testing the Honda and himself to the limits.
#5 Stuart Easton
The 2002 and 2013 British Supersport Champion is hoping to come back this year stronger and improve on his 7th place finish last year. Narrowly missing out on the showdown in 2014, Easton states his PBM Kawasaki is 'ideal' and will 'run consistently' hopefully for a showdown finish this year.
#6 James Westmoreland
'Westy' has joined JG Speedfit Kawasaki for the 2015 MCE British Superbikes season, describing them as 'one of the very best teams on the paddock'. If all goes well he will be competing in his 100th race in the series this year, and hopefully strive for a showdown finish.
#7 Michael Laverty
Laverty has raced with Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda in the MCE British Superbikes series, and is hoping to be 'in a position to fight for wins and podiums' on a Tyco BMW in 2015. He states his experience in the World Championship has made him 'a better rider' and is excited to show the series what he can do.
#8 Shaun Winfield
'Munch' performed well last year, stepping in for injured Mitchell Carr and providing two impressive results. Aiming for a full season with Anvil Hire TAG Racing Kawasaki this year, it will be exciting to see what he can do on the ZX10R in 2015; he is definitely one to watch with regards to emerging talent.
#9 Chris Walker
Chris 'The Stalker' Walker has raced in an impressive 285 MCE British Superbike races, his first one being in 1996. Racing for the brand new team BeWiser Kawasaki, it will be exciting to see whether or not Chris can improve on his showdown finish of 2014, he says that with "Tommy (Hill)'s involvement and feedback it should be fantastic."
#11 Taylor Mackenzie
Nicknamed 'T-Mac', Taylor Mackenzie is joining the MCE British Superbike series after three years in the British Supersport championship. He says he is "very excited, to say the least" about joining Team WD-40 Kawasaki, and is hoping for a top 10 finish in the series in 2015.
#12 Luke Mossey
The 'Skywalker' feels this is 'the right time to move up to the Superbike Championship' after five years in the Supersport class. Racing with Quattro Plant Kawasaki, he says he is 'aiming for the top 10 by the end of the season'. Going off his testing at Almeria of recent, he looks like he could be a real contender.
And we haven't even started! With the first ten down, that leaves an astounding 29 riders left on the grid, and rumours are being batted about that there is more to come! Next time we'll be covering a lot more of them!
