Wainwright joins PR Racing for Knockhill MCE BSB

MCE Insurance Josh Wainwright will join PR Racing this weekend at the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Knockhill.

Matej Smrz tested with the team earlier in the year at the circuit, but following medical advice he will be unable to compete due to injury.

Wainwright will therefore make the move from the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship where he has already impressed in the earlier stages of the year.

Wainwright said: 'I am excited of course to have the opportunity to race a full spec Superbike and I have to thank the team for this opportunity. I know that it won't be easy stepping up to this championship but I am feeling confident that this is the right time to do it. I am looking forward to the weekend and getting Knockhill started!'

Team owner John Jameson added: 'We are looking forward to welcoming Josh to the team this weekend, and it will be a chance for him to adapt to the Superbike with no pressure so he can improve throughout the season.

'We tested recently with Matej and together we have agreed that he returns home where he can rest. He is now working with his medical team to assess his progress and ensure he is fully fit before he returns. When Matej is back we will then expand to a two rider Superbike team.'
