MCE BSB: Cadwell Park - Round Eight - Race One
Leon Haslam has returned to winning ways in race one at Cadwell Park, his first time on the top step since Oulton Park earlier in the year.
Haslam got the holeshot with pole man Shane Byrne close behind and applying the pressure early. Dan Linfoot had a disastrous start, running wide and crashing out unhurt when he tried to rejoin. As a result of the injuries he will be side-lined for race two.
Byrne continued to apply the pressure, however a massive moment when exiting Mansfield saw the Ducati rider save a lowside on his elbow, managing to get the bike upright and continue the race only dropping back a couple of places.
Jake Dixon hit the front of the pack on the fourth lap, but Haslam was never far behind and took the lead again just one lap later. The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider was able to control the distance from there and went on to bag his fourth win of the 2017 MCE BSB season. Dixon and Byrne completed the podium.
Peter Hickman fought his way into a fourth-place position, with O'Halloran and Jackson completing the top six. The final places in the top ten went to Laverty, Iddon, Bridewell and Ellison.
