MCE BSB Winter Testing - An Update

MCE Insurance

There's no rest for the wicked with regards to MCE British Superbike riders, who have already begun their 2016 Championship campaign testing out their 2016 bikes with positive reviews received across the board.

Shane Byrne was impressed with his Ducati Panigale R after his first outing: "Today has been amazing; the Panigale was obviously very different from the bike I've ridden for the last four years but it's so cool how Ducati manage to keep the same DNA in the new model as the one's I've raced previously for them. There were some things that I truly think will be great about the bike in MCE BSB and I certainly can't wait to try my own as soon as possible."

JG Speedfit Kawasaki hit Jerez with Ellison and Hickman at the helm and both returned with nothing but praise for the 2016 ZX10R. Ellison said: "For a standard engine with no traction control or anti-wheelie it shows the huge potential of Kawasaki's new 2016 ZX10R. We did 85 laps today and a race simulation so it has been a very successful test for us."

Hickman said: "It has been great, I had a mint day! I felt a lot more comfortable on the bike today but there's still a long way to go. I am happy enough with my pace though. I have ridden at Jerez before but only instructing so it's different to try and go fast. I've ended up 1.1 seconds slower than what James did yesterday on his first day, so considering he's ridden a Kawasaki for two years and I've just flown in from Macau, I'm happy with that!"

Danny Buchan is set to have his first test with the factory team this month, but got his first taste of the Ducati in early December. He said: "It has been a great day turning some laps on my Ducati, which Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati have built for me just to do some testing on. My first impressions of this bike are that it is amazing so I am really looking forward to getting on our race bike and seeing what we can do on that!"

Sam Hornsey headed to Brands Hatch in mid-December to experience the power of a superbike with Team WD-40. Hornsey said: "It has been a good day and I feel that it went extremely well. The bike has great potential and I already feel very impressed with the Superbike. The team have worked hard with me today to get me to gel with the bike and we managed to get about 80 laps in, which is a good start to have done that already in December."

The three strong line up of Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha tested in Cartagena just before the Christmas break and all three walked away with nothing but praise for the new R1 they will be riding. McConnell said: "We can now come up with a bit of a wish list of what we need to do and work towards for our next real test in January after today's run out. For the first test on the new Yamaha I am really happy and the new R1 feels really good."

Rispoli said: "We made steady progress all day and to be honest I wasn't that far off, which was a good start. The R1 is literally the perfect bike to step up to Superbike with because it feels like a big R6. We have made a consistent start and with more miles and upgrades for our next tests we should be in a good place. I am happy with today's progress and now we can get ready for our next tests which will be important for the start of the season."

Winfield said: "Today went really well. I hadn't been to the track before so I had to learn the circuit at the start of the day but the bike felt really good from the first session. I felt comfortable and relaxed on the bike which helped me towards knocking time off throughout the day and I kept my times close to my team-mates who had been there before."
