MCE BSB: Silverstone - Round Nine - Race Three
Dan Linfoot has scored his first ever MCE Insurance British Superbike win in the final race of this triple header weekend, he was joined on the podium by Laverty and Dixon.
The final race was a dramatic one to say the least. It all began prior to the race start, with Haslam unable to race due to a technical problem - a weekend to forget for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider. When the race began O'Halloran crashed out on the opening lap, putting his showdown hopes in jeopardy as Dixon, Iddon and Mossey all sought to push him out of the final six.
Josh Brookes hit the front, with Byrne close behind followed by Ellison. A lap later however Ellison crashed unhurt and prematurely ended his weekend. The wet weather left very little grip on the circuit and a number of riders also struggled in the conditions. Brookes crashed out chasing Byrne for the lead, followed by Byrne himself on lap six, leaving Linfoot to go on to finish the race in first.
Iddon moved into second and had potentially secured his position in the Showdown six if everything stayed the same, however on the eighth lap Iddon crashed out at Club and ended his showdown hopes.
Laverty was raised up to second, with Dixon moving up to third to secure his place in the showdown spot, with O'Halloran still holding his top six finish despite his earlier crash.
Westmoreland finished in fourth, followed by Smrz and Ray. Jackson was the final finisher.
