MCE making a difference across the continents
The UK's number one provider of motorbike insurance have recently made a huge difference to a group of children thousands of miles away in South Sudan with a charitable donation that has facilitated the building of a new triple classroom block at their primary school.
South Sudan is the world's newest country, gaining independence from The Sudan in 2011 following a lengthy civil war and the country is now working hard to rebuild itself from within. Longamere Primary School in a village called Yei is home to 340 pupils, primarily made up from the local Kakwa tribe and provides vital education to children aged between 7 and 13.
The recent donation from the title sponsors of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Series has meant that the teaching facilities for these children has been transformed from run-down thatched shacks with no walls or windows to a modern block of classrooms, providing learning environments that are clean, safe and secure.
Mandy Scott-Johnson, Fundraising Manager for the project, commented; "Thanks to MCE's generous donation, Longamere now has classrooms to be proud of. This will make an enourmous difference to the children, parents and teachers at this vital village school."
