Ride free ride safe - Drivers have no excuse not to see you!
As the new month sees the re-launched 'Named Drivers' campaign by Think here are a few more tips to make sure drivers have no excuse not to see you.
It's all about looking after no1 first and making sure you're donning the right gear.
My biggest tip is picking the right helmet. Luckily for me I have a team of experts to create my helmet to keep me 'ed safe. You can use this site SHARP to make sure you're getting the safest head piece in the market.
Secondly make sure the gear you wear will not easily tear or rip in case of the unavoidable and wear bright or florescent gear during the day and reflective gear at night. For more info on what gear to wear click here
Here are a few riding tips I live by what ever the weather:
Make sure you:
- anticipate the actions of others
- are alert and observant
- can slow down and stop if the unexpected happens
- position yourself in the safest and best place to maximise your visibility of potential hazards
- take a 'lifesaver' glance over your shoulder before carrying out manoeuvres, so you know where others are and what they're doing
