The Year of the Yamaha?

This weekend Yamaha celebrated their first win at Suzuka since 1996, riders Bradley Smith, Pol Espargaro and Katsuyuki Nakasuga provided the company with a dominant victory finishing one minute ahead of their opposition. Smith took to social media following the race and thanked the team with a photo captioned with "We came, we saw, we conquered".

This year the Japanese manufacturer celebrates its 60th anniversary and across the board it's looking like it's going to be one to remember.

Riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have created a sizable gap on their opponents in the MotoGP championship and are showing no signs of stopping. At this stage in the season it is almost certain that a Yamaha rider will be standing on the top step, the only question is which one.

The MCE British Superbike championship currently has Milwaukee Yamaha rider Josh Brookes just 5 points away from defending champion Shane Byrne, and he has shown no sign of slowing down, stating at the latest round at Brands Hatch that the bike is finally at the point where he feels like he can convincingly win races on it.

It has not been a perfect year for the Yamaha team, however. Michael Dunlop ditched the R1 at this year's Isle of Man TT to race on his S1000RR, saying the bike was not yet at a level that he felt he could convincingly race on.

With the Suzuka victory, the current MotoGP standings and Josh Brookes' MCE BSB hopes 2015 has already been a great one for the Yamaha Motor Company, we can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
