The War for Four!

Early in the season Shane 'Shakey' Byrne was the dominant rider picking up 6 wins, then at Knockhill something happened...Kiyonari returned to form. Picking up his first win since 2011 the Japanese rider gelled with his Buildbase BMW beautifully and went from strength to strength. Shakey was shaken and struggled to find a way to beat the resurgent Kiyonari. Consistently over the main season Shakey was better but still needed to get back to winning ways as the Showdown beckoned.

Assen came and it was down to the title fighters to show their worth. In appalling race 1 conditions Shakey crashed out almost wiping out his entire podium credit lead. Kiyo capitalised finishing second. Race 2 and Shakey did exactly what he needed to, he won, but more importantly he beat Kiyo. Many of the other title fighters failed to score enough points to give themselves a real chance at the championship; so it was beginning to look like a two horse race. Silverstone compounded this when we witnessed Shakey and Kiyo battling to the highest calibre, with both taking a win.

Shakey now leads the standings by only 12 points and it will all come down to these last three races. Who will claim the record breaking fourth title? We find out this weekend as the epic War for Four reaches its climax!
