Lowes, van der Mark and Nakasuga take third Suzuka 8hr victory
Yamaha have bagged their third Suzuka 8 Hour title in a row with the trio of Alex Lowes, Michael van der Mark and Katsuyuki Nakasuga putting in a tremendous effort at the final round of the Endurance World Championship.
The chemistry and bond throughout the team was evident throughout the week and when it came down to the Sunday race day everything fell into place. Nakasuga put in an impressive start and got the race off on the right foot in damp conditions. Lowes then jumped on and put in a strong effort, with Van der Mark then extending the lead.
Leon Haslam rode for an incredible five hours during the race, and with Team Green Kawasaki finishing second on the podium the commitment evidently paid off for the MCE British Superbike star. F.C.C. TSR Honda suffered a bike fire in the closing stages of the race and had to settle for a third place finish, a great result in the circumstances.
