After months of speculation Chris Evans has been confirmed as the new face of Top Gear and has assured fans that the revamped show - with an all-new line-up - will feature more motorcycles.

James May and Richard Hammond were outspoken fans of motorcycles with an impressive collection of their own, however two wheels very rarely featured on the previous Top Gear format. This was arguably due to Jeremy Clarkson's outspokenly negative views on them, in which when they were featured they were not always shown in a positive light.

However, this week Evans took to twitter and made clear that the revamped programme set to hit our screens in March 2016 will have a different approach. The Radio 2 presenter tweeted: "There will be more motorbikes on the new Top Gear. Do you think we should go to The TT?"

Undoubtedly his 1.9million followers on the website had something to say, with the general consensus from motorcyclists being wholly positive. It also led to increased speculation that Guy Martin will be an addition to the line-up, due to Evans' mention of the TT and Martin becoming a name synonymous with the world famous race.

It's great to hear that motorbikes will feature more in the Top Gear format; it would be fantastic to see motorcycles spoken about in mainstream programming in the same way that cars are discussed. It's obviously early days with only one third of the line-up completed, however this is no doubt a positive step for the motorcycling community and here at MCE we can't wait to see the finished product!
