Richard Cooper in Shock Exit

MCE Insurance

It was announced today that Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki rider Richard Cooper will part ways with the team following a mutual agreement between the two parties.

The announcement has shocked the MCE BSB as the team have had their best season to date with the rider. Off the back of the riders impressive double podium at Brands Hatch earlier in the year, Cooper currently sits in 8th place in the championship and was arguably one to watch with regards to making the final top six showdown.

Team owner Rob Winfield said: 'We'd firstly like to take this time to thank Richard for all his hard work this season and in the past. He's a model professional and works hard in everything that he does, and has given us some lasting memories. But we both feel it's time to part ways. TAG racing as a whole wishes Richard all the best in the future.'

Many are suggesting that Cooper's departure is due to his poor performance at Thruxton, leaving with two DNF's at the end of it all. Speaking to MCN the rider said: 'Thruxton was a bit of a low point, both for me as a rider and them as a team, and without saying anything bad about them, we had a bit of a disagreement'. However at the end of it all the Nottingham man says the separation was mutual and they 'shook hands and wished each other the best of luck at the end of it all'.

It is a shame that Cooper may be without a ride for the remainder of the season, especially off the back of his fantastic performance at Brands Hatch. However as we are all aware the MCE BSB is full of twists and turns, and we're sure Cooper won' be away from the action for long!
