Round 2 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Oulton Park - Race Two
Race two at Oulton Park has already been hailed by some as one of the best races in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship to date. It's easy to see why, two riders quickly becoming fan favourites battling it out for a first place finish, followed by two teammates engaging in a battle for not only a podium position, but also to stamp their claim to be the teams number one rider...
Rain dampened the start of the race and the grid was an incredible place to be as riders shouted over the din of the superbikes being warmed up their tyre choices for the race, which proved crucial to the final result on the drying track.
Dan Linfoot hit the front of the pack, followed by Kennedy and Seeley. Seeley crashed out a lap later, however. Cooper quickly took charge and claimed the top spot and controlled the lead extremely well. Iddon chased down Cooper and put some pressure on the rider as he rode towards his first MCE BSB win.
Dan Linfoot had a nightmare weekend, crashing out at Shell Oils in lap 8 and ending both of his races prematurely.
Ellison and Haslam engaged in a battle that had people across the circuit gasping, with the riders shaking heads at the others daring overtakes and defensive lines.
While this was going on Iddon and Cooper were having a fantastic battle, Iddon took the lead on the very last lap and defended his lead extremely well, however he drifted wide on the exit of Lodge and Cooper forced himself into the gap and rode over the line bagging his first ever MCE BSB win in the process.
If that wasn't enough drama Ellison and Haslam battled all the way towards the line, with Haslam able to get over it first and get on the podium finishing in third place.
Laverty finished fifth, followed by Byrne, Irwin, O'Halloran, Kennedy and Easton making up the top ten.
