Round 4 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Knockhill - Race Two

MCE Insurance Shane Byrne's first race at Knockhill was undoubtedly one to forget, however his second one will be one he'll remember for a long time.

Dan Linfoot started from pole position and made the best start, with Hopkins initially impressing, but dropped back behind JG Speedfit's Hickman and Haslam.

Hickman was fierce as he kept on Linfoot's tail, taking the lead in lap three with a bold overtake at the hairpin, however he was unable to make it stick and Linfoot took the lead on the straight that followed. As the two swapped places Haslam and Byrne closed the gap on them and both moved in front of Hickman and approached Linfoot.

Linfoot made an error and dropped back two places with Byrne taking first and Haslam second. Then followed an intense battle between the front two, both with their eyes on the Championship title as well as the race win. Haslam then dropped back to third as Linfoot showed them both that he wasn't done yet.

Ellison rocketed through the pack in the final few laps and took the third place position off his teammate Haslam, and then moved up to second at the line pushing Linfoot back to third.

Hickman finished fourth, followed by O'Halloran and Haslam forced to settle for a surely disappointing sixth. Cooper, Bridewell, Mainwaring and Iddon made up the top ten.
