Qualification day rolled around in the MCE British Superbike Championship, however rain greeted it and dampened the mornings proceedings somewhat. With heavy rain overnight the track needed substantial repairs with potholes emerging on the Knockhill Circuit. The circuit team were called and worked tirelessly to ensure that the action could continue.

At around 1pm the go-ahead was given and the day roared into life. This was undoubtedly to Shakey Byrne's delight, having finished the previous days free practices on top, with his team-mate and local boy Stuart Easton breathing down his neck for the majority of the day.

Josh Brookes and Michael Laverty will have high hopes following some impressive lap times going into qualification, with the likes of Luke Mossey, Kiyonari and Buchan all eager to follow on from their free practice performance.

When qualification roared into life it was Shakey Byrne who clinched pole position for race one, despite a crash in Q3 he had secured a lap time that was fast enough to keep his PBM Kawasaki on top. His teammate Stuart Easton will start in second position having pipped Josh Brookes to the post in Q3 pushing him down to third. The second row will be made up of O'Halloran, Kiyonari and Ellison who will all be gunning to finish on the podium to put their stamp on the championship. However with the likes of Laverty and Linfoot close behind it is sure to be one of those weekends where anything can happen.

The top 10 riders in qualification were separated by just 0.684s in today's qualification, the Knockhill circuit is short and sharp meaning tomorrow's ride will not be a lonesome one with the biggest ever MCE BSB grids roaring around the circuit, ready to pounce on any mistake the unforgiving track has to offer. Bring it on!
