Round 8 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Cadwell Park - Race Two

MCE Insurance Leon Haslam evened the score with Shane Byrne in race two, bagging a victory of his own and securing podium points in the process to keep his Championship hopes very much alive.

It was O'Halloran who had the best start, closely followed by Byrne and Haslam who both managed to go ahead of the Honda rider in the first lap. Soon afterwards the safety car was deployed due to Mainwaring and Backlund crashing out - both riders walked away from the incident.

When the action resumed Haslam was instantly on the attack, however Byrne was able to fend him off. A couple of laps later Haslam went for an overtake on the inside and pushed Byrne wide, of which O'Halloran was able to take advantage and move into second in the process.

Haslam seemed to find another gear in the closing stages of the race and managed to finish two seconds ahead of O'Halloran who was able to fend off a chasing Byrne, despite the Australian having a bit of a moment on the exit of Barn.

This means that Byrne, Haslam and O'Halloran have all secured their showdown spots, the remaining places are yet to be filled and it will come down to Oulton Park for the showdown decider!
