The MCE BSB heads to Thruxton
Currently sitting only five points behind defending champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, this weekend is a vital one for Milwaukee Yamaha rider Josh Brookes. Bolstered by a double victory at Brands Hatch at the last round, the Australian seems to have found his stride on the bike and will on the hunt for two more as the series heads to Thruxton.
The Hampshire circuit is one that the rider has always got on well with, scoring four wins and an additional four podium finishes in his six seasons in the championship. Two of those wins happened just last season and we wouldn't bet against the same again in 2015 as the MCE BSB championship heads there this weekend.
Byrne will be eager to add two more wins to his 2015 tally, however, and James Ellison will be heading to Thruxton to rekindle his championship hopes that have waned since sustaining broken ribs at Snetterton. One to watch is undoubtedly Richard Cooper heading into this weekend, securing a 2nd and 3rd place finish at the last round he will undoubtedly be heading to round 7 feeling confident, with the hopes of proving to the biggest ever MCE BSB grid that he has what it takes to keep the pressure on the boys at the front.
The next few rounds will be vital to the outcome of the 2015 championship, can Brookes and Ellison keep the pressure on the 4-time-champ, or will the PBM Kawasaki rider find another gear and pull ahead? Thankfully we don't have long to wait as tomorrow we head to the track for free practice! Bring it on!
