Yamaha sees the light

MCE Insurance

Yamaha have announced they are urgently recalling a large number of YZF-R1 and XT1200Z Super Tenere models due to a headlight fault which causes the light to fail.

The fault discovered in the models dating back to 2009 causes headlights to overheat making the housing melt and eventually the light to fail when the plug connectors expand and separate. Obviously this is not something you want when out riding at night. Owners of the affected motorbikes will be contacted by Yamaha and asked to bring them in for a headlight sub-loom fitting which stops the fault from occurring.

The work will be carried out for free at local Yamaha dealers and should only take about half an hour. Make sure you check to see if your bike is one of the models affected just for piece of mind.
