MCE BSB: Silverstone - Round Nine - Race Two

MCE Insurance Josh Brookes has claimed his second win of the 2017 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, with Ellison and Byrne joining him on the podium.

It was Byrne that led the race in the early stages ahead of Iddon and Guintoli. Mackenzie, Linfoot and Jackson's race came to a premature end following a multiple collision in the opening lap. Guintoli fought his way up to second and pressured Byrne for a number of laps, a fantastic thing to see when considering how he has struggled with the Suzuki in 2017.

Leon Hallam's weekend went from bad to worse with another crash at Stowe, he had been making his way through the pack but scored his second DNF of the weekend - his showdown position was however confirmed in this race.

Guintoli went on to lead the race, but the positions swiftly shifted as Brookes went ahead of the Suzuki rider and Byrne with a number of riders behind with their eyes on some vital points for their showdown campaigns.

There were a few notable crashers, race one winner Irwin crashed out unhurt, followed by Andy Reid and Martin Jessopp which subsequently brought out the Safety car - just before the race was resumed Winfield's engine blew up and left oil on the circuit, bringing out a red flag and declaring Brookes the winner.

Guintoli scored a fourth place finish, his best this season, ahead of O'Halloran and Iddon. Hickman finished eighth with Dixon and Hopkins completing the top ten.
