Round 7 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Brands Hatch GP - Race Two

MCE Insurance Shane 'Shakey' Byrne has bagged his first double victory on the PBM Ducati, delighting his home crowd, despite another disappointing start.

Byrne dropped back to ninth place again at the start of the race with O'Halloran leading the way with Haslam and Mossey on his tail. Mossey took the second spot from Haslam with his sights on the top spot, Ellison moved up to third pushing Haslam back another place.

Bridewell's race prematurely ended with a mechanical problem on the eighth lap - a sad end to the weekend for the rider who looked entirely deserving of a podium finish.

Irwin had an impressive race as he continues to get to grips with his superbike, battling with Leon Haslam and trading places with him three times in four corners around the GP circuit. Haslam made it stick, however and went on to hit the top spot before O'Halloran snatched it right back.

Michael Laverty suffered a technical problem and the safety car was forced to be deployed as the track was inspected. Upon the restart Haslam hit the front, however before long the riders were bunched up and Byrne emerged in the lead at Druids.

Byrne was able to hold the chasing pack off and bag a double win with Haslam and O'Halloran joining him on the podium. Irwin, Cooper and Jackson followed, with Mossey, Linfoot, Ellison and Iddon making up the top ten.
