Last weekend saw a whole host of riders come together for a charity event in aid of the Marco Simoncelli foundation.

The 'Sic Supermoto Day' held at the new Latina circuit in Italy saw the likes of Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi and other big names from all creeds of motorcycle racing team up with Supermoto riders to compete in the 58 lap race. 58 being Simoncelli's number.

The day was hampered by rain but still gave way for some great racing. It was MotoGP rider Dovizioso and team-mate Hermunen who took the win which was quite a feet considering Dovi's got neck problems and missed Ducati's three day test at Jerez last week. He was obviously more comfortable with the Supermoto's upright position. British Supersport Championship contender Christian Iddon and team-mate Matt Winstanley put on a great show and grabbed second place from Rossi and Van den Bosch by a clear 30 seconds. They were also only half a second behind the leaders. Recently retired reigning World Superbike Champion Biaggi and team-mate Chareyre could only manage 8th place on the V-Twin Aprilla which seemed to struggle in the wet compared to the singles.

The Event was a great success and over 5,000 fans visited the two day event. Over 90,000 Euros were raised for the Simoncelli Foundation which supports good causes throughout Italy and the world. Macro's father Paolo was present and handed out the trophies to the winners.

Here are the results:
  1. Hermunen / Dovizioso - 58 laps - 1:06:10,556
  2. Winstanley / Iddon - 58 laps - 1:06:11,087
  3. Van den Bosch / Rossi - 58 laps - 1:06:39,871
  4. Verde Rosa / Antonelli - 58 laps - 1:06:57,253
  5. Lazzarini / Pasini - 57 laps - 1:05:58,852
