It’s been a long time coming, but electric motorcycles are finally here. With more and more people looking for sustainable transportation options, these two-wheeled machines are quickly becoming a viable option for motorcyclists. But just how far can they go? Are electric motorcycles the future of motorcycling? Let's explore this new technology and see what it has to offer.

The Benefits of Electric Motorcycles

Electric motorcycles offer many advantages over traditional petrol-powered models. For starters, they're much quieter than their petrol-powered counterparts, so you won't have to worry about disturbing your neighbours when you hit the open road. They also require less maintenance since there are no fluids or filters to change and no spark plugs or carburettors to clean. Plus, they don't produce emissions, meaning they're much better for the environment than petrol-powered models.

On top of that, electric motorcycles can be recharged in about an hour using a standard wall outlet or even faster with a Level 2 charger. This means you won't have to waste time at the petrol station filling up your tank—you can simply plug it in and let it charge while you enjoy dinner or catch up on some work. And since electric motors generate maximum torque from zero RPMs, most electric bikes deliver instant power with no lag time between shifts or acceleration points.

Are Electric Motorcycles Here to Stay?

Electric motorcycles still have a few drawbacks compared to their petrol-powered counterparts. For one thing, most electric models lack range compared to their petrol-powered bikes; most will only travel around 100 miles before needing to be recharged again. Battery technology is improving all the time though so this is likely going to become less of an issue as time goes on. Additionally, electric models tend to cost more than their petrol-powered models but over time this too is likely going to become less of an issue as prices come down as battery technology improves and mass production increases.

Electric motorcycles may not be perfect yet, but they certainly seem like a viable option for motorcyclists looking for something new and different from their traditional powered bikes. They offer many benefits such as reduced noise levels, fewer maintenance requirements, no emissions, instant power delivery and quick charging times—not to mention the fact that they look pretty cool too! As battery technology continues to improve and prices come down, we could very well see more and more motorcyclists turning towards these two-wheeled machines in the near future. Time will tell if electric motorcycles truly are the future of motorcycling but it certainly seems like they’re here to stay!
