Frequently Asked Questions
  • Do I need to report any accidents when obtaining an insurance quotation?

  • Yes, any change which could affect your policy must be reported to MCE either at the start of the policy or at the renewal of the policy. If you are not sure whether to report any change, please contact our Customer Service Department on 0871 222 79 20.

  • Who are my insurers?

  • We search a wide panel of insurers to find you the best deal for your motorcycle insurance. Before you buy your policy, our online quote service will show you the insurers you can choose from, the price and a summary of the cover provided.

  • Can I get immediate cover?

  • Yes, providing you have a credit or debit card we can issue you with immediate cover, subject to normal terms and conditions. Please note that if you choose to pay by Direct Debit we will require a deposit from you, payable by credit or debit card and you will need an account that supports the Direct Debit facility.

  • Can I have more than one bike on my MCE bike insurance policy?

  • Yes you can. Some of our insurers will allow up to five bikes on their policies, although for these multi-bike policies, there must be only one rider insured on that policy.

  • When will I receive my documentation?

  • Within five working days, you will receive your certificate of insurance.

  • What do I need to do if I have lost my insurance documentation?

  • Please contact our Customer Service Department on 0871 222 79 20.

  • Do I need to report an accident even if I don‘t intend claiming?

  • You should report all accidents, thefts, attempted thefts and malicious damage incidents, even if you are not going to make a claim.

  • Do I need to report incidents to the police?

  • Vehicle theft, attempted theft and malicious damage incidents must be reported to the police within 48 hours. Take a note of the crime reference number, as you will be asked for it when contacting your insurance company to notify them of the incident. Report any accident involving injuries, or where the other driver/rider does not stop.

  • Will my NCB be affected?

  • If you and your motorcycle are involved in an incident that is not your fault, your NCD will be affected only until the time that your insurer is successful in recovering your vehicle's repair costs from the third party. If successful, your NCD is no longer affected. If you have a protected NCD, it will not be affected by the first two claims in any three-year period of cover.
