Lorenzo is the 2015 MotoGP Champion!
Jorge Lorenzo has won his third MotoGP title following a thrilling race which saw Rossi charge through the pack, however the Italian was overall unable to keep up with the three leading Spaniards, having to settle for a fourth place finish.
Jorge Lorenzo headed to Valencia with only seven points separating him from his Movistar Yamaha teammate, and with Rossi forced to start from the back of the grid most knew it would take a shock upset for Lorenzo to not emerge victorious.
Jorge led from beginning to end in the incredible race, followed closely by Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez who held second place throughout and was seemingly unable to make a pass. Dani Pedrosa created an attack in the final few laps, challenging on the second to last lap, however Marquez was able to regain the place and the exchange only certified Lorenzo's first place finish as he gained a vital few tenths.
Rossi rode an incredible race, launching himself to 16th place after only two corners and continued to climb through the pack, by lap 13 he was up to fourth place and poised to attack. However the pace of the front three proved too much and he was unable to close the 11 second gap.
Speculation will undoubtedly fly regarding Marquez's lack of attempt to overtake Lorenzo in the race in the next few weeks, however with seven victories and an astounding 274 laps in the lead throughout the year Lorenzo has had an undeniably fantastic season.
