Lorenzo Triumphs in Aragon

Jorge Lorenzo has narrowed the gap on his teammate Valentino Rossi at today's Aragon MotoGP. Only 14 points now separate the Movistar Yamaha riders in a dramatic race that included Marc Marquez crashing out and teammate Dani Pedrosa returning to form.

Marquez took pole position in yesterday's qualifying in style, smashing his previous lap record and keeping Lorenzo at bay in the process. However his race start wasn't as impressive and he was left chasing Lorenzo and behind Iannone, he was able to make his way into second but as he pushed to keep on his fellow Spaniard's back wheel he crashed out and ended his race prematurely.

As Lorenzo streaked off, putting down an incredibly consistent lap time in the process, a battle for second commenced between Pedrosa and Championship leader Rossi. The Doctor was stuck on Pedrosa's back wheel for the majority of the race and many believed that he was biding his time to pounce and take the second spot, however Pedrosa stuck to a tight line and made overtaking problematic. On the last lap an incredible battle took place and fans were delighted to see Pedrosa back to his previous best and scrapping with Rossi of which the Spaniard emerged victorious.

Iannone finished in fourth place, with by his teammate Dovizioso following 16s behind. Aleix Espargaro finished sixth, followed by Crutchlow and fellow Brit Smith. Pol Espargaro and Yonny Hernandez made up the top 10.

Pedrosa's second place finish has made things a bit more difficult for fan favourite Valentino Rossi, a second place finish would have kept Lorenzo at bay by a few more points, however now with four rounds remaining the 14 points that now separate them could quickly narrow if Lorenzo continues to display his ability to pull away in the race when given the opportunity.
