Michelin have turbulent start in MotoGP testing

Michelin's return to the MotoGP championship has gotten off to a rocky start with Loris Baz crashing out of today's testing action at 180mph.

His rear tyre seemed to explode and he was thrown off the bike whilst travelling at high speeds down the start/finish straight. Thankfully the rider was unhurt and was able to walk away from the situation, however Michelin were forced to withdraw the soft option tyre having seen the extent of the crash and will seemingly go back to the drawing board.

Baz will hopefully return to the action tomorrow having only suffered minor bruising and will continue to work on his 2016 set up. The Frenchman said: "The tire exploded in the straight when I had just done my fastest lap. Initially I thought an engine problem because there were signs that let me think that such a strange noise. But we have well analysed the bike and everything was in place. Personally, I think more of a problem on the tire. I suffered a big crash, but I'm doing fine. We will say that this is my lucky day."
