Round 8 - MCE British Superbike Championship - Cadwell Park - Qualifying

MCE Insurance Leon Haslam has returned to Cadwell Park in style, smashing his existing lap record from way back in 2007 in the process.

Q1 and Q2 were tightly fought, Iddon crashed out unhurt in Q2 and prematurely ended his qualifying session unhurt - he will start race one in thirteenth position tomorrow. Dan Linfoot also crashed out in Q2, however secured his place in Q3 with a lap time on the proving sufficient - when he went back out for Q3 he finished in ninth position.

It was Buildbase BMW who made the best start to the final session, with both Jackson and Cooper topping the times in the early stages. Byrne managed to push Jackson back, but Cooper's fastest time remained until Haslam was on the charge and pushed Cooper back to second.

Haslam was only slightly quicker than Cooper, however in the final stages pulled a lap out of the bag that smashed his previous lap record and got into the 1:25's for the first time ever.

Byrne went faster in his final lap and secured a second place spot for tomorrow's race one. He'll be joined on the front row by Cooper, with Jackson, O'Halloran and Mossey making up the second row. Bridewell, Ellison and Linfoot complete the third.
