Ducati capture Cal
British MotoGP star Cal Crutchlow will part ways with his Tech 3 Yamaha squad and move into the factory Ducati team for the 2014 season. Announced last week the deal will see him gain a massive pay rise and factory machinery (at last) but sadly it's is in the form of the dreaded Ducati Desmosedici, which only one man has ever been able to tame.
Crutchlow himself has admitted he knows it is a challenge but is up for the fight. He's got a two year deal with Ducati so has some time to get the bike right for him. If other riders such as Rossi and Dovi are anything to go by then it will take a good season to get used to the thing and another to attempt to make it competitive.
Cal seems in good spirits about the whole thing and seems generally happy to finally have a factory ride. His place within the Tech 3 Yamaha team was also in contention with Brandley Smith and Pol Espargaro both having rides and Cal sort of half promised one. He was never going to get on the factory Yamaha team as they are booked up with Rossi and Lorenzo. Honda also showed some interest but after Bradl's win even that seat disappeared. So perhaps Ducati was the best option. I just hope that he can still be competitive because right now he's definitely in the form of his life.
