Leon Camier has been brought in as a stand in for the injured Sylvain Barrier after he was in a car accident which has left him hospitalised. Barrier who rides for BMW Motarrad was injured in a severe car crash in Lyon and was left in a coma. Since then he's had two operations and is starting to recover and hopes to make a comeback as soon as he is healed.

Meanwhile Camier was due to ride in MotoGP for Ioda but the deal fell through last minute and the 2008 MCE BSB champion was left without a ride. BMW approached the star because of his experience at WSBK level gaining a number of podiums over 97 race appearances.

Camier commented, "I'm really excited to get started. From what I've heard the BMW has a lot of potential and this is a really good opportunity for me. I've been on the standard bike and it's the most comfortable road bike I've ever sat on so I hope that translates to the race bike and that I have a good feeling right away. I can't wait to get to work."
