MCE BSB: Thruxton - Round Seven - Race One

MCE Insurance Three non-factory teams celebrated a race one podium here at Thruxton with Josh Brookes taking the win on his Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha, with Peter Hickman (Smiths Racing BMW) and Jake Dixon (RAF Reserves Kawasaki) making the podium.

It was Jake Dixon who got the hole shot, firing off the line and looking like he had the pace to break away. Shane Byrne dropped back after a mistake at the chicane which sent him back to sixth with some work to do.

Before Dixon could break the Safety Car was deployed when Billy McConnell crashed out and the pack bunched up again. When the race resumed, Dixon tried to make a break but the chasing Smiths Racing BMW of Hickman was applying the pressure and he took the lead on lap nine.

Brookes, who looked strong throughout the race was able to take second off Dixon and then set his sights on the top step, taking the lead on lap 15 and able to keep Hickman at bay to the chequered flag.

Byrne finished fourth, followed by Iddon and O'Halloran. Haslam finished in seventh, followed by Ray, Hopkins and Guintoli.
