MCE BSB: Brands Hatch GP - Round Six - Race Two
Shane 'Shakey' Byrne has done the Brands Hatch double at his home circuit, returning to the top of the Championship standings in the process.
Unlike race one Byrne was able to take the lead in the early stages and looked comfortable from the off. Brookes was in third behind Linfoot when Byrne began to break away, and the Australian made a move on the Honda rider in an attempt to keep in touch with the leader before Shakey pulled the pin.
As Brookes began to chase him down he smashed the long-standing lap record and bridged the gap with Byrne to just 0.4s - the eagerly anticipated battle was not to be, however, with the Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha rider crashing out on lap nine.
With the gap the duo had created Byrne went on to comfortably win and become the King of Brands. With Linfoot also crashing out the final two podium positions became available with Ellison and Iddon prepared to battle for the spots, with an error from Iddon seeing Ellison finish second and forcing the Tyco BMW rider to settle for third.
Hickman narrowly missed out on a podium position, with Haslam finishing in fifth, followed by Mossey, O'Halloran, Ray, Laverty and Dixon completing the top ten.
